The Weez Project, a community group promoting youth suicide prevention, will be hosting Weez Week 2021 the week of February 22, 2021, with its youth suicide awareness and anti-stigma campaign, “Talk, Listen and Care about Suicide.” It aims to encourage people to open up to talking about suicide in order to help young people experiencing difficult emotions, and prevent suicide.
The Weez Project
The Weez Project was set up in 2017 in memory of Jamie Bruno, who tragically took his own life aged just fifteen.
Its vision is for there to be zero youth suicides in Hong Kong. It aims to encourage young people to seek help for themselves and for others, and to help educate teachers and parents know more about mental health issues. It furthers these aims through collaboration with expert mental health charities, Mind HK and KELY Support Group – to raise awareness and reduce the stigma attached to suicide and mental health.
Coolminds, a joint initiative between Mind HK and KELY Support Group, works to improve the mental health of young people in Hong Kong through training, information sharing, online resources, destigmatisation, as well as providing support for the adults around them.
