Dr An Tong Gong

Dr An Tong Gong is a clinical psychologist who specialises in working with children, adolescents, adults, parents and families. She focuses on helping clients manage a range of difficulties including neurodiversity (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, learning differences), depression, anxiety, academic stress, eating issues, family conflicts, interpersonal relationship issues, non-suicidal self-injury, and suicidal ideation. She has expertise in conducting developmental, diagnostic, and psychoeducational evaluations.

Dr An Tong Gong earned a Masters in developmental psychology and clinical practice, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from University College London. Her clinical training sites include the Anna Freud Centre and University College London in the UK and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Hong Kong. She is currently also a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, providing clinical teaching and supervision and professional training to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is a registered practising clinical psychologist (HCPC, BPS, HKPS DCP, and HKICP) in Hong Kong, the UK, and Mainland China. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. This training initiative helps expand mental health services across Hong Kong to wider communities. It’s a great opportunity to help train different personnel who are interested in mental health support, ensuring that more people across various sectors are prepared to offer help and understanding.

Dr. Gracemary Kwok Heung Leung

Dr. Gracemary Leung is a Chartered Clinical psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Associate Fellow of the HK Psychological Society.

 

Dr. Leung worked in the NHS in UK since 1978 where she set up day care programme in Redditch Bromsgrove, In 1983 she initiated, managed care teams, programs for the Rehabilitation of people with schizophrenia in Hahnemann House, Bournemouth. Helped to set up programs for the behaviorally disturbed adolescents and children; programs for people with drinking problems; gambling problems. She did work with the physically disabled (MS, Memory re- training with the brain damaged) in Christchurch Hospital in Dorset. From 1991, she served as the Director of Community Forensic services and for 10 years as Expert Witness for Mental Illness. Her clinical experience includes working with schizophrenia, violent and sex offenders, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for pain patients, suicidal prevention, adolescents and adult patients in relationship problems, problem Internet users and problem gamblers.

 

From Sept 2000, she came to HK, taught in Psychology, Social sciences departments at The University of Hong Kong, including the roles of Director of Psychological Services Unit and Acting Director for Student Development and Counselling. Retiring in August 2006 from full time, she continued to teach as part-time Assistant Professor in Counselling. She was Adjunct Professor in the Social Science Research Centre with research projects on Problem Gamblers.

 

She has run many training workshops on communication, DBT, ACT, CAT with Personality problems suicide prevention, change management, stress management, parenting skills, workplace violence both in corporate and governmental sectors. She has published a number of books (Appendix A).She has worked in Central Health, Hong Kong and London clinics and is a supervisor for Counsellors in HKU and in Mind Hong Kong since 2021 to present.

Dr. Alex Wai Ki Li previously worked with schools in the United Kingdom and within the National Health Service as well as in Youth Charities.

Dr. Li utilises a range of therapeutic approaches in his work such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and Positive Psychology to support and cater to the individual needs of clients. His specialism and interests are in anxiety and depressive disorders including Eating Disorders and Sleep Disorders. He also acts as a clinical supervisor to trainee master’s level counsellors and doctorate level psychologists from Universities in Hong Kong, Canada and Australia.

Dr. Li is passionate about working with clients from all backgrounds and has worked successfully with children, adolescents, adults and elderly populations. He has a fundamental belief in the ability for people to make meaningful changes in their lives with the right support in place and is patient as well as understanding of the obstacles that hinder progress. He works to empower clients to break free from the things that bind them from striving towards their values.

Dr. Ann Mok is a Registered Counselling Psychologist (HKPS) and an Approved Counselling Supervisor (HKPCA), with over thirty years of experience in mental health counselling among adults, youth, and families, in Hong Kong, China, and North America. She has been involved in clinical supervision and training of counsellors and mental health workers toward successful practice and certification for over fifteen years. In addition to lecturing on Psychology, Counselling, and Career Development in universities, Dr. Mok has presented in international conferences, provided psycho-education training for school leaders, parenting seminars, well being courses to adolescents, adult transition workshops, and career guidance training for career masters.

 

Dr. Mok’s academic credentials include B. Sc. specializing in Psychology, M. A. in Counselling Psychology, and EdD in Psychology, specializing in Adolescent Development. She’s approach to counselling is eclectic, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Satir’s model of Family Therapy.

 

The dire need to enhance the mental health and overall well being of Hong Kongers has been increasingly apparent and urgent. Prevention and early intervention can avert many struggling with anxiety, and depressive symptoms from a path toward mental illness. I feel privileged to have been able to work with Mind HK to contribute toward availing well-being services to Hong Kongers. It has been a rewarding and meaningful journey in training teams of practitioners to deliver effective and much needed mental health enhancement services.

Keith is a locally trained clinical psychologist with 10 years of experience working in public community mental health services in Hong Kong. He has worked with individuals experiencing a range of clinical conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessive–compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and dissociation, as well as challenges such as chronic pain, school refusal, and addiction.

 

Keith has experience both in delivering low-intensity psychotherapy and in supervising practitioners providing low-intensity interventions. He has been involved in the iACT project as a supervisor since 2022. He views low-intensity therapy as a valuable component of the mental health care system, offering timely early intervention and expanding the accessibility of mental health services. He hopes to see continued development and innovation in low-intensity services in Hong Kong.

Ernest Wong, M.Soc.Sc. (Clin Psy)

Clinical Psychologist in Accredited Register, Department of Health, HK and Associate Fellow and Registered Clinical Psychologist, The Hong Kong Psychological Society.

 

He currently serves as Clinical Psychologist at HealthyMind Child Development Centre, providing comprehensive psychological assessments, evidence-based treatments (CBT, ACT and Unified Protocol) for clients of all ages, school-based services, and public training workshops for parents, educators and professionals. He previously led clinical psychology services as Unit-in-Charge at The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (Wellness PLUS).

 

He has provided clinical supervision across multiple roles throughout his career, currently serving as Clinical Supervisor at Mind HK specialising in low-intensity Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and previously through team leadership and staff supervision at HKFYG as well as clinical supervision for University of Hong Kong clinical psychology trainees.

Karen first joined Mind HK as a Clinical Advisor in 2021. She subsequently started her role as Clinical Supervisor in 2023 during the iACT pilot program. A registered Clinical Psychologist, Karen has trained in institutions across the Asia-Pacific region (NUS, HKU and ANU) so as to better serve people facing challenges in these unique contexts.

 

Karen has a special interest in supporting adults and youths who struggle with specific anxiety disorders. Her expertise also extends to conditions relating to chronic self-harm, complex PTSD, and BPD. In helping her clients overcome these challenges, Karen applies comprehensive evidence-based treatments including CBT, DBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Schema Therapy.

 

Apart from her clinical duties, Karen has worked extensively with non-profit organizations in support of their mental health projects and has also lectured in university Psychology courses.

 

Karen is dedicated to combining her passion for humanitarian work and clinical skills to help others learn, heal and grow.

Puihan Joyce Chao, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist in Accredited Register, Department of Health, HK and licensed in Hawaii, USA.

 

She has had over 30 years working experience in mental health services.

 

Founding and committee member of ACBS HK Chapter.

 

Local trainer and supervisor in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Dr. Klaris Leung (she/her/hers) is a registered and licensed Clinical Psychologist in the United Kingdom, New York, and Hong Kong, with more than a decade of clinical experience across diverse service settings. She currently works within the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom, providing specialist clinical psychology services to adults with complex mental health presentations within a stepped-care framework.

 

Dr. Leung has a strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and in the training and supervision of emerging practitioners. She is pleased to contribute to the iACT programme as a clinical supervisor, supporting trainees in developing evidence-based therapeutic skills and expanding access to high-quality psychological care in the community.

Ms. Esther Cheung is a Clinical Psychologist (HKPS & HKICP Reg) with extensive experience in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support individuals across clinical and subclinical contexts. She believes in ACT not only as a therapeutic approach but as a guiding philosophy to help people build psychological flexibility and live more meaningfully with their emotions.

Alongside her clinical work, Esther finds deep fulfillment in coaching psychological wellbeing practitioners and fellow clinicians in integrating ACT principles into their practice. She values the reflective and experiential nature of learning, encouraging practitioners to adapt approaches that resonate with their own counselling styles. Esther particularly enjoys learning from trainees’ creative metaphors and lived experiences as they bring ACT protocols to life in their unique contexts.

As a MindHK supervisor, Esther is committed to fostering growth, authenticity, and compassion in therapeutic training—helping practitioners translate theory into skillful, person-centered care.

Esther Wong completed her M.Phil in Developmental Psychology at the University of Cambridge, UK, and thereafter her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. Esther was brought up and educated in the UK. Upon returning to Hong Kong, she has worked with teenagers and young adults across various settings, including schools, NGOs, and medical clinics for the past 15 years.

Dr Esther previously worked as a clinical advisor at Mind HK. She is currently an iACT supervisor and has supervised 3 cohorts of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. She has also supervised counselling students from the Masters of Counselling program at Monash University.

Her current focus of clinical work at Sprout in Motion involves working with adolescents and young adults using Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy and EMDR. Her areas of expertise include but not limited to a broad range of neurodivergence, personality disorders and trauma.

Jacky Chow, iACT Lead Wellbeing Practitioner

Jacky was a graduate of the first cohort of Mind HK’s Wellbeing Practitioner Training Programme. He holds a Master’s in Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies)and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. He had experience practising ABA with kids on the autism spectrum. Jacky is currently practising ACT-based low-intensity intervention.

After completing the Adult Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training in 2024, Charles joined Mind HK as a Wellbeing Practitioner, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Meanwhile, he also completed a Master’s degree in Psychology in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Mind HK, he worked at a local Integrated Community Centre for Mental Wellness (ICCMW) and noticed the shortage of standardised low-intensity psychological intervention services in HK.

Charles has learnt and practised mindfulness since 2022. He has experienced both the benefits and difficulties of practising mindfulness. He strongly believes that a mindfulness-based approach coupled with a low-intensity psychological intervention service is effective and congruent with the needs of people with mild to moderate common psychological distress, like depression and anxiety.

Anna holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and completed her training as a Mind HK iACT Wellbeing Practitioner in 2024. She believes that every individual possesses inherent value and strength, with unique experiences that deserve to be recognised with dignity and care. Anna seeks to encounter every individual as a person first. She is dedicated to walking alongside people through adversity, providing professional guidance that is always rooted in genuine warmth and human connection.

Kelly is a part-time iACT Wellbeing Practitioner with Mind HK. She holds a Master of Social Sciences in Psychology in Hong Kong and is trained in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, elderly life-and-death education, and related counselling skills. Kelly is committed to advancing mental health awareness and access to support across Hong Kong.

Joby was trained by Mind HK as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner providing low-intensity interventions for adults using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). During this period, she witnesses a transformation in her service users, as they have gained a better understanding of their mental health and have the courage to seek help and live their values. She is deeply moved by the power of the Improving Access to Community Therapies” (iACT) and ACT. She officially joined Mind HK in April 2024 as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner and has a vision and mission to let more people in the community care for their mental health.

Joby has gained many insights and cultivated self compassion through mindfulness practice in the last few years. She is a mindfulness facilitator dedicated to accompanying people from all walks of life in understanding themselves, cultivating joy in life, and creating and maintaining harmonious relationships.

Chloe holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health, and furthered her training with a Professional Diploma in Counselling to provide practical psychological support. She believes that our difficult emotions, rather than being threats, are often meaningful signals of what we care about most. By partnering with individuals to listen to these signals and clarify their internal motivation, Chloe empowers her clients to overcome obstacles and build a fulfilling life that reflects who they truly want to be.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, Lap believes that compassion is the foundation of all meaningful healing. In Lap’s current role, he focuses on meeting individuals with warmth and without judgment, creating a space where they feel truly seen and heard. I am eager to walk alongside people as they navigate adversity and learn to treat themselves with the same kindness they offer others.

On Yi believes in uncovering the unique self within every individual. Whatever form these beliefs take, they are simply waiting to be listened to and valued with patience.

Sophie holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling and is a professional member and Candidate for Certified Counsellor of the HKPCA. She joined Mind HK as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner for adults in August 2024, following completion of her PWP training.

Sophie has received specialised training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, and Structural Family Therapy, and has been certified as a Mindful Parenting Teacher.

Her practice is informed by systemic perspectives and seeks a holistic understanding of each client’s challenges within their unique relational and sociocultural contexts. The firsthand experience living and working in both Hong Kong and Mainland China has shaped her keen sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics.

Rose graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from HKSYU and is now pursuing a master’s degree in family counselling and family education at CUHK. She discovered a strong passion for counselling and has trained as an iACT WP at Mind HK to deliver low-intensity services to individuals facing emotional distress. Her dedication to mental health advocacy continues to shape her professional and personal growth.

In May 2023, Maggie joined Mind HK’s pilot programme of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner that uses a training and service model similar to Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) in the UK. She officially joined as a Wellbeing Practitioner in July 2024 and has been working with adults experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress using a low-intensity, manualised intervention based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping her clients enhance self-awareness and emotional management skills. Maggie’s yoga and mindfulness teaching background outside of Mind HK also informs her work by adding a somatic and spiritual perspective.

Gala is an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner with a background in mindfulness practice. She believes in the power of deep listening and creating a compassionate space where people feel truly heard. Having experienced the spirit of “No Mud, No Lotus” in her own life, Gala sees suffering as something that can be gently transformed through awareness and understanding. She hopes to support individuals in discovering their own capacity for growth and healing.

Stephanie completed the PWP training program in 2024 and has since worked as a Wellbeing Practitioner at MindHK. Her journey into mental health began with a deep passion for improving her own and others’ wellbeing. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and reading, and starts each day with meditation. Additionally, she volunteers with local organisations to promote mental health awareness.

Jovie finished training in Mind HK’s iACT Psychology Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) Programme in 2024. Upon completion of her training, she officially joined the youth team as a Wellbeing Practitioner.


Prior to joining the team, Jovie gained valuable experience working with an NGO dedicated to mental health initiatives and projects. Through this role, she developed a profound understanding and appreciation of the critical importance of mental health and emotional well-being. This hands-on involvement deepened her commitment to supporting individuals in achieving greater psychological resilience and balance.

Jack is a Wellbeing Practitioner supporting young people in secondary schools. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies). His work focuses on supporting adolescents experiencing mild emotional distress and helping them better understand and manage their emotions. Jack is passionate about promoting mental health awareness and supporting early intervention for young people in the community.

What is iACT Service?

Improving Access to Community Therapies (iACT®) is one of the services from Mind HK. Trained Wellbeing Practitioners will offer initial assessment and early intervention for people dealing with mild to moderate symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other emotional difficulties.

The service includes 6-8 sessions of low-intensity psychological support, the flexibility of the service allows individuals to receive free and timely support when needed.

If you’re aged between 18 – 65 and are facing some emotional challenges, we would like to invite you to take an online assessment for us to gain a better understanding of your current emotional struggles.

If you’re eligible, we’ll get you connected with a Wellbeing Practitioner within two weeks to sort out the next steps.

To ensure our services remain sustainable and accessible to all, we utilise a sliding scale fee model based on household income starting 1 June 2026. Sessions range from free of charge to HK$ 150 – HK$ 300, as detailed in the table below.
By contributing what you can, you directly support the longevity of our iACT services. These fees sustain Mind HK’s vital work, ensuring our support remains available for those who need it most. Furthermore, your contribution fuels our broader mission, including school-based programmes, mental health training, and essential awareness campaigns across the city.

Yes. In addition to income-based waivers, you may choose to receive support from a Trainee Wellbeing Practitioner or an Alumni Wellbeing Practitioner volunteer. In these instances, fees are waived, though wait times may be longer.

You may reschedule your appointment up to two times during your service period. Please note that all changes must be made at least two working days prior to your scheduled session.

Yes, you may choose to discontinue the service at any time.

The service runs for about 3 months and includes 6-8 support sessions, tailored to your needs.

We encourage you to attend all sessions and actively practice the tips and exercises provided by your Wellbeing Practitioner.

We take your privacy seriously. Your chats with the Wellbeing Practitioner are confidential.

 

We won’t share any of your info unless you’ve provided consent or if there are risks detected.

This programme isn’t suitable for people facing emergencies, major setbacks, or those diagnosed with serious or complex mental health conditions.

Most of our Wellbeing Practitioners have backgrounds in psychology or counselling and are passionate about mental health. They’ve gone through about 140 hours of intensive training and completed at least 120 hours of supervised clinical practice over 9 months to ensure the quality of service.

 

They’re trained by accredited local experts in the mental health field, including clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists, counsellors, and psychiatrists. Plus, we regularly check how effective our services are. All service outputs and performances are subject to consistent monitoring.

Who is suitable for participating in this programme?

This programme welcomes anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 who may be feeling lost or facing emotional difficulties. Please note that this programme is not suitable for individuals diagnosed with severe or complex mental health conditions.

After signing up, our Wellbeing Practitioner will contact you within two weeks to schedule a convenient time for a 45-minute conversation, either via video or phone call, according to your preference. During the conversation, the Wellbeing Practitioner will understand your current situation and help you gain a better understanding of your emotional state based on the questionnaire you filled out during application. Additionally, they will provide recommendations for appropriate community resources based on your needs, helping you take an important first step in taking care of your mental health.

Although the intervention procedure is mostly standardised, Wellbeing Practitioners will work flexibly with clients to address individual presenting problems and unique characteristics.

Our Wellbeing Practitioners are trained to support people who experience mild to moderate mental health difficulties primarily. This programme is not suitable for the situations mentioned above. Your conversations with the Wellbeing Practitioner are absolutely confidential. Any information about you will not be shared with anyone without your consent unless you or others are at immediate risk or the Wellbeing Practitioner has reason to believe that you may be in imminent danger.
Supervisors will monitor trainees’ development throughout the placement to ensure that they are meeting the required level of competency to pass the training course at the end of the placement.

Yes, it is necessary to book an appointment in advance by filling out the form. Additionally, you can select one of the five stores yourself. We will allocate clients to different Wellbeing Practitioners based on their chosen location.

Before having the conversation, we will ask you to fill out a basic questionnaire for preliminary screening assessment. This screening process aims to ensure that the training received by the Wellbeing Practitioners is sufficient to meet the needs of the individuals receiving the service. If it is determined after the screening assessment that the service is not suitable for you, Mind HK will provide alternative recommendations to ensure your safety and support.

For adults who are suitable for this service, all Wellbeing Practitioners have received training on how to identify and respond to safety and risk issues. If you have any concerns about the support process, the Wellbeing Practitioners have appropriate measures in place and will develop response plans based on the urgency of the situation. They can also access support from clinical practitioners from Mind HK or participating organisations.

Dr. Gracemary Leung is a Chartered Clinical psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Associate Fellow of the HK Psychological Society.

 

Dr. Leung worked in the NHS in UK since 1978 where she set up day care programme in Redditch Bromsgrove, In 1983 she initiated, managed care teams, programs for the Rehabilitation of people with schizophrenia in Hahnemann House, Bournemouth. Helped to set up programs for the behaviorally disturbed adolescents and children; programs for people with drinking problems; gambling problems. She did work with the physically disabled (MS, Memory re- training with the brain damaged) in Christchurch Hospital in Dorset. From 1991, she served as the Director of Community Forensic services and for 10 years as Expert Witness for Mental Illness. Her clinical experience includes working with schizophrenia, violent and sex offenders, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for pain patients, suicidal prevention, adolescents and adult patients in relationship problems, problem Internet users and problem gamblers.

 

From Sept 2000, she came to HK, taught in Psychology, Social sciences departments at The University of Hong Kong, including the roles of Director of Psychological Services Unit and Acting Director for Student Development and Counselling. Retiring in August 2006 from full time, she continued to teach as part-time Assistant Professor in Counselling. She was Adjunct Professor in the Social Science Research Centre with research projects on Problem Gamblers.

 

She has run many training workshops on communication, DBT, ACT, CAT with Personality problems suicide prevention, change management, stress management, parenting skills, workplace violence both in corporate and governmental sectors. She has published a number of books (Appendix A).She has worked in Central Health, Hong Kong and London clinics and is a supervisor for Counsellors in HKU and in Mind Hong Kong since 2021 to present.

Dr. Alex Wai Ki Li previously worked with schools in the United Kingdom and within the National Health Service as well as in Youth Charities.

Dr. Li utilises a range of therapeutic approaches in his work such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy and Positive Psychology to support and cater to the individual needs of clients. His specialism and interests are in anxiety and depressive disorders including Eating Disorders and Sleep Disorders. He also acts as a clinical supervisor to trainee master’s level counsellors and doctorate level psychologists from Universities in Hong Kong, Canada and Australia.

Dr. Li is passionate about working with clients from all backgrounds and has worked successfully with children, adolescents, adults and elderly populations. He has a fundamental belief in the ability for people to make meaningful changes in their lives with the right support in place and is patient as well as understanding of the obstacles that hinder progress. He works to empower clients to break free from the things that bind them from striving towards their values.

Dr. Ann Mok is a Registered Counselling Psychologist (HKPS) and an Approved Counselling Supervisor (HKPCA), with over thirty years of experience in mental health counselling among adults, youth, and families, in Hong Kong, China, and North America. She has been involved in clinical supervision and training of counsellors and mental health workers toward successful practice and certification for over fifteen years. In addition to lecturing on Psychology, Counselling, and Career Development in universities, Dr. Mok has presented in international conferences, provided psycho-education training for school leaders, parenting seminars, well being courses to adolescents, adult transition workshops, and career guidance training for career masters.

 

Dr. Mok’s academic credentials include B. Sc. specializing in Psychology, M. A. in Counselling Psychology, and EdD in Psychology, specializing in Adolescent Development. She’s approach to counselling is eclectic, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Satir’s model of Family Therapy.

 

The dire need to enhance the mental health and overall well being of Hong Kongers has been increasingly apparent and urgent. Prevention and early intervention can avert many struggling with anxiety, and depressive symptoms from a path toward mental illness. I feel privileged to have been able to work with Mind HK to contribute toward availing well-being services to Hong Kongers. It has been a rewarding and meaningful journey in training teams of practitioners to deliver effective and much needed mental health enhancement services.

Keith is a locally trained clinical psychologist with 10 years of experience working in public community mental health services in Hong Kong. He has worked with individuals experiencing a range of clinical conditions, including depression, anxiety, obsessive–compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, and dissociation, as well as challenges such as chronic pain, school refusal, and addiction.

 

Keith has experience both in delivering low-intensity psychotherapy and in supervising practitioners providing low-intensity interventions. He has been involved in the iACT project as a supervisor since 2022. He views low-intensity therapy as a valuable component of the mental health care system, offering timely early intervention and expanding the accessibility of mental health services. He hopes to see continued development and innovation in low-intensity services in Hong Kong.

Ernest Wong, M.Soc.Sc. (Clin Psy)

Clinical Psychologist in Accredited Register, Department of Health, HK and Associate Fellow and Registered Clinical Psychologist, The Hong Kong Psychological Society.

 

He currently serves as Clinical Psychologist at HealthyMind Child Development Centre, providing comprehensive psychological assessments, evidence-based treatments (CBT, ACT and Unified Protocol) for clients of all ages, school-based services, and public training workshops for parents, educators and professionals. He previously led clinical psychology services as Unit-in-Charge at The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (Wellness PLUS).

 

He has provided clinical supervision across multiple roles throughout his career, currently serving as Clinical Supervisor at Mind HK specialising in low-intensity Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and previously through team leadership and staff supervision at HKFYG as well as clinical supervision for University of Hong Kong clinical psychology trainees.

Karen first joined Mind HK as a Clinical Advisor in 2021. She subsequently started her role as Clinical Supervisor in 2023 during the iACT pilot program. A registered Clinical Psychologist, Karen has trained in institutions across the Asia-Pacific region (NUS, HKU and ANU) so as to better serve people facing challenges in these unique contexts.

 

Karen has a special interest in supporting adults and youths who struggle with specific anxiety disorders. Her expertise also extends to conditions relating to chronic self-harm, complex PTSD, and BPD. In helping her clients overcome these challenges, Karen applies comprehensive evidence-based treatments including CBT, DBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Schema Therapy.

 

Apart from her clinical duties, Karen has worked extensively with non-profit organizations in support of their mental health projects and has also lectured in university Psychology courses.

Dr. Klaris Leung (she/her/hers) is a registered and licensed Clinical Psychologist in the United Kingdom, New York, and Hong Kong, with more than a decade of clinical experience across diverse service settings. She currently works within the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom, providing specialist clinical psychology services to adults with complex mental health presentations within a stepped-care framework.

 

Dr. Leung has a strong interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and in the training and supervision of emerging practitioners. She is pleased to contribute to the iACT programme as a clinical supervisor, supporting trainees in developing evidence-based therapeutic skills and expanding access to high-quality psychological care in the community.

Ms. Esther Cheung is a Clinical Psychologist (HKPS & HKICP Reg) with extensive experience in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support individuals across clinical and subclinical contexts. She believes in ACT not only as a therapeutic approach but as a guiding philosophy to help people build psychological flexibility and live more meaningfully with their emotions.

Alongside her clinical work, Esther finds deep fulfillment in coaching psychological wellbeing practitioners and fellow clinicians in integrating ACT principles into their practice. She values the reflective and experiential nature of learning, encouraging practitioners to adapt approaches that resonate with their own counselling styles. Esther particularly enjoys learning from trainees’ creative metaphors and lived experiences as they bring ACT protocols to life in their unique contexts.

As a MindHK supervisor, Esther is committed to fostering growth, authenticity, and compassion in therapeutic training—helping practitioners translate theory into skillful, person-centered care.

Esther Wong completed her M.Phil in Developmental Psychology at the University of Cambridge, UK, and thereafter her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. Esther was brought up and educated in the UK. Upon returning to Hong Kong, she has worked with teenagers and young adults across various settings, including schools, NGOs, and medical clinics for the past 15 years.

Dr Esther previously worked as a clinical advisor at Mind HK. She is currently an iACT supervisor and has supervised 3 cohorts of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. She has also supervised counselling students from the Masters of Counselling program at Monash University.

Her current focus of clinical work at Sprout in Motion involves working with adolescents and young adults using Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy and EMDR. Her areas of expertise include but not limited to a broad range of neurodivergence, personality disorders and trauma.

Dr An Tong Gong is a clinical psychologist who specialises in working with children, adolescents, adults, parents and families. She focuses on helping clients manage a range of difficulties including neurodiversity (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, learning differences), depression, anxiety, academic stress, eating issues, family conflicts, interpersonal relationship issues, non-suicidal self-injury, and suicidal ideation. She has expertise in conducting developmental, diagnostic, and psychoeducational evaluations.

Dr An Tong Gong earned a Masters in developmental psychology and clinical practice, and a doctorate in clinical psychology from University College London. Her clinical training sites include the Anna Freud Centre and University College London in the UK and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Hong Kong. She is currently also a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, providing clinical teaching and supervision and professional training to undergraduate and postgraduate students. She is a registered practising clinical psychologist (HCPC, BPS, HKPS DCP, and HKICP) in Hong Kong, the UK, and Mainland China. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. This training initiative helps expand mental health services across Hong Kong to wider communities. Jacky Chow, iACT Lead Wellbeing Practitioner


Jacky was a graduate of the first cohort of Mind HK’s Wellbeing Practitioner Training Programme. He holds a Master’s in Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies)and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. He had experience practising ABA with kids on the autism spectrum. Jacky is currently practising ACT-based low-intensity intervention.

After completing the Adult Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training in 2024, Charles joined Mind HK as a Wellbeing Practitioner, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Meanwhile, he also completed a Master’s degree in Psychology in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Mind HK, he worked at a local Integrated Community Centre for Mental Wellness (ICCMW) and noticed the shortage of standardised low-intensity psychological intervention services in HK.

Charles has learnt and practised mindfulness since 2022. He has experienced both the benefits and difficulties of practising mindfulness. He strongly believes that a mindfulness-based approach coupled with a low-intensity psychological intervention service is effective and congruent with the needs of people with mild to moderate common psychological distress, like depression and anxiety.

Anna holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and completed her training as a Mind HK iACT Wellbeing Practitioner in 2024. She believes that every individual possesses inherent value and strength, with unique experiences that deserve to be recognised with dignity and care. Anna seeks to encounter every individual as a person first. She is dedicated to walking alongside people through adversity, providing professional guidance that is always rooted in genuine warmth and human connection.

Kelly is a part-time iACT Wellbeing Practitioner with Mind HK. She holds a Master of Social Sciences in Psychology in Hong Kong and is trained in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, elderly life-and-death education, and related counselling skills. Kelly is committed to advancing mental health awareness and access to support across Hong Kong.

Joby was trained by Mind HK as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner providing low-intensity interventions for adults using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). During this period, she witnesses a transformation in her service users, as they have gained a better understanding of their mental health and have the courage to seek help and live their values. She is deeply moved by the power of the Improving Access to Community Therapies” (iACT) and ACT. She officially joined Mind HK in April 2024 as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner and has a vision and mission to let more people in the community care for their mental health.

Joby has gained many insights and cultivated self compassion through mindfulness practice in the last few years. She is a mindfulness facilitator dedicated to accompanying people from all walks of life in understanding themselves, cultivating joy in life, and creating and maintaining harmonious relationships.

Chloe holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health, and furthered her training with a Professional Diploma in Counselling to provide practical psychological support. She believes that our difficult emotions, rather than being threats, are often meaningful signals of what we care about most. By partnering with individuals to listen to these signals and clarify their internal motivation, Chloe empowers her clients to overcome obstacles and build a fulfilling life that reflects who they truly want to be.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, Lap believes that compassion is the foundation of all meaningful healing. In Lap’s current role, he focuses on meeting individuals with warmth and without judgment, creating a space where they feel truly seen and heard. I am eager to walk alongside people as they navigate adversity and learn to treat themselves with the same kindness they offer others.

On Yi believes in uncovering the unique self within every individual. Whatever form these beliefs take, they are simply waiting to be listened to and valued with patience.

Sophie holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling and is a professional member and Candidate for Certified Counsellor of the HKPCA. She joined Mind HK as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner for adults in August 2024, following completion of her PWP training.

Sophie has received specialised training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, and Structural Family Therapy, and has been certified as a Mindful Parenting Teacher.

Her practice is informed by systemic perspectives and seeks a holistic understanding of each client’s challenges within their unique relational and sociocultural contexts. The firsthand experience living and working in both Hong Kong and Mainland China has shaped her keen sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics.

Rose graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from HKSYU and is now pursuing a master’s degree in family counselling and family education at CUHK. She discovered a strong passion for counselling and has trained as an iACT WP at Mind HK to deliver low-intensity services to individuals facing emotional distress. Her dedication to mental health advocacy continues to shape her professional and personal growth.

In May 2023, Maggie joined Mind HK’s pilot programme of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner that uses a training and service model similar to Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) in the UK. She officially joined as a Wellbeing Practitioner in July 2024 and has been working with adults experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress using a low-intensity, manualised intervention based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping her clients enhance self-awareness and emotional management skills. Maggie’s yoga and mindfulness teaching background outside of Mind HK also informs her work by adding a somatic and spiritual perspective.

Gala is an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner with a background in mindfulness practice. She believes in the power of deep listening and creating a compassionate space where people feel truly heard. She hopes to support individuals in discovering their own capacity for growth and healing.

Stephanie completed the PWP training program in 2024 and has since worked as a Wellbeing Practitioner at MindHK. Her journey into mental health began with a deep passion for improving her own and others’ wellbeing. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and reading, and starts each day with meditation. Additionally, she volunteers with local organisations to promote mental health awareness.

Jovie finished training in Mind HK’s iACT Psychology Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) Programme in 2024. Upon completion of her training, she officially joined the youth team as a Wellbeing Practitioner.

Prior to joining the team, Jovie gained valuable experience working with an NGO dedicated to mental health initiatives and projects. Through this role, she developed a profound understanding and appreciation of the critical importance of mental health and emotional well-being. This hands-on involvement deepened her commitment to supporting individuals in achieving greater psychological resilience and balance.

Jack is a Wellbeing Practitioner supporting young people in secondary schools. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies). His work focuses on supporting adolescents experiencing mild emotional distress and helping them better understand and manage their emotions. Jack is passionate about promoting mental health awareness and supporting early intervention for young people in the community.

Jacky was a graduate of the first cohort of Mind HK’s Wellbeing Practitioner Training Programme. He holds a Master's in Psychological Medicine (Psychosis Studies)and a BSc in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. He had experience practising ABA with kids on the autism spectrum. Jacky is currently practising ACT-based low-intensity intervention.

After completing the Adult Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner training in 2024, Charles joined Mind HK as a Wellbeing Practitioner, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Meanwhile, he also completed a Master’s degree in Psychology in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Mind HK, he worked at a local Integrated Community Centre for Mental Wellness (ICCMW) and noticed the shortage of standardised low-intensity psychological intervention services in HK.

Charles has learnt and practised mindfulness since 2022. He has experienced both the benefits and difficulties of practising mindfulness. He strongly believes that a mindfulness-based approach coupled with a low-intensity psychological intervention service is effective and congruent with the needs of people with mild to moderate common psychological distress, like depression and anxiety.

Anna holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and completed her training as a Mind HK iACT Wellbeing Practitioner in 2024. She believes that every individual possesses inherent value and strength, with unique experiences that deserve to be recognised with dignity and care. Anna seeks to encounter every individual as a person first. She is dedicated to walking alongside people through adversity, providing professional guidance that is always rooted in genuine warmth and human connection.

Kelly is a part-time iACT Wellbeing Practitioner with Mind HK. She holds a Master of Social Sciences in Psychology in Hong Kong and is trained in Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, elderly life-and-death education, and related counselling skills. Kelly is committed to advancing mental health awareness and access to support across Hong Kong.

Joby was trained by Mind HK as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner providing low-intensity interventions for adults using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). During this period, she witnesses a transformation in her service users, as they have gained a better understanding of their mental health and have the courage to seek help and live their values. She is deeply moved by the power of the Improving Access to Community Therapies” (iACT) and ACT. She officially joined Mind HK in April 2024 as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner and has a vision and mission to let more people in the community care for their mental health.

Joby has gained many insights and cultivated self compassion through mindfulness practice in the last few years. She is a mindfulness facilitator dedicated to accompanying people from all walks of life in understanding themselves, cultivating joy in life, and creating and maintaining harmonious relationships.

Chloe holds a degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health, and furthered her training with a Professional Diploma in Counselling to provide practical psychological support. She believes that our difficult emotions, rather than being threats, are often meaningful signals of what we care about most. By partnering with individuals to listen to these signals and clarify their internal motivation, Chloe empowers her clients to overcome obstacles and build a fulfilling life that reflects who they truly want to be.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner, Lap believes that compassion is the foundation of all meaningful healing. In Lap's current role, he focuses on meeting individuals with warmth and without judgment, creating a space where they feel truly seen and heard. I am eager to walk alongside people as they navigate adversity and learn to treat themselves with the same kindness they offer others.

On Yi believes in uncovering the unique self within every individual. Whatever form these beliefs take, they are simply waiting to be listened to and valued with patience.

Sophie holds a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling and is a professional member and Candidate for Certified Counsellor of the HKPCA. She joined Mind HK as an iACT Wellbeing Practitioner for adults in August 2024, following completion of her PWP training.

Sophie has received specialised training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, and Structural Family Therapy, and has been certified as a Mindful Parenting Teacher.

Her practice is informed by systemic perspectives and seeks a holistic understanding of each client’s challenges within their unique relational and sociocultural contexts. The firsthand experience living and working in both Hong Kong and Mainland China has shaped her keen sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics.

Rose graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from HKSYU and is now pursuing a master's degree in family counselling and family education at CUHK. She discovered a strong passion for counselling and has trained as an iACT WP at Mind HK to deliver low-intensity services to individuals facing emotional distress. Her dedication to mental health advocacy continues to shape her professional and personal growth.

In May 2023, Maggie joined Mind HK's pilot programme of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner that uses a training and service model similar to Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) in the UK. She officially joined as a Wellbeing Practitioner in July 2024 and has been working with adults experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress using a low-intensity, manualised intervention based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping her clients enhance self-awareness and emotional management skills. Maggie's yoga and mindfulness teaching background outside of Mind HK also informs her work by adding a somatic and spiritual perspective.
