Long-term Strategic Charity Partnership

Manulife and Mind HK, are collaborating on a long-term strategic charity partnership. Together, this partnership aims to expand Mind HK’s support network and resources to co-host a series of promotional events and training sessions focusing on mental health. The goal is to raise public awareness, enhance the mental health support services, and foster the long-term development of mental wellbeing in the local community, helping people lead healthier lives.

Our Initiatives

Free Talking Therapy – Improving Access to Community Therapies (iACT®)

Improving Access to Community Therapies (iACT®) is one of the Mind HK’s services in which trained iACT® Wellbeing Practitioners are available to offer free psychological support to people who are experiencing mild to severe emotional distress.  With Manulife’s support, Mind HK will be able to strengthen and support the network of graduated practitioners and enable them to serve people in need effectively.

 

Mind HK x Manulife – Public Awareness Raising Events

Manulife and Mind HK will organise and co-host a series of engaging public awareness events with the objective of bringing expert speakers from clinical, public health, and NGO fields together to discuss a wide range of mental health topics. With the full support of Manulife, Mind HK aims to promote and welcome more members of the public to participate in these mental health awareness events to equip themselves with valuable knowledge on mental health.

 

“More Than a Label” – Anti-Stigma Campaign

Mind HK and MINDSET Hong Kong have partnered on an anti-stigma campaign named “More Than a Label”, which trains individuals who have experienced mental health problems to be ambassadors to effectively and safely share their lived experience stories through multi-media formats. Manulife is committed to providing full support to the “More Than a Label” anti-stigma project and Mind HK to expand its impact by training more ambassadors. Manulife will also collaborate with Mind HK to promote its mission through diverse channels including webpages, social media platforms, and offline promotions, encouraging the public to look beyond the typical stigmatising labels associated with mental health problems. 

 

Hong Kong Mental Health Conference 2025

Mind HK and Manulife co-hosted the international Hong Kong Mental Health Conference 2025. Titled “Birth, Life and Mental Health”, the three-day conference aims to delve into the evidence, psychology and culture around the whole lifespan and its connections with mental health.

Esteemed overseas speakers were invited and over 20 NGO community partners will be involved. Approximately 1,000 attendees were expected from academics, professionals, and the general public. Mind HK and Manulife seek to raise mental health awareness among mental health related sharing on international and local community perspectives. 

In-Person Wellbeing Check-in

 To ensure that more people in need receive appropriate support, Manulife will strengthen Mind HK’s one-time free Wellbeing Check-in service by introducing a new in-person service location in a central and accessible area in Hong Kong.

 

This new service point and its associated services will be fully funded by Manulife, facilitating evidence-based Wellbeing Check-in for more adults in need.

Hong Kong International Mental Health Conference (Nov 2025)

The conference was a great success, with over 1,300 participants and more than 110 invited speakers sharing in nearly 50 sessions, covering the latest interventions, research, and innovations to support us in navigating life’s defining moments.

“More Than a Label”* Annual Exhibition “Listen to the Beat” (Aug 2025)

The “More Than a Label”* annual exhibition “Listen to the Beat” was successfully held in Aug 2025, running for two weeks.

 

It featured 5 interactive zones combining audios, videos, texts, and artworks, along with 2 storytelling sessions. The exhibition shared the real-life experiences of nearly 100 Mental Health Ambassadors.

Your Mental Health Matters Event #3 – Caregivers and Their Stress (May 2025)

The third “Your Mental Health Matters” event held in May 2025. Vincci Cheuk, Mind HK CEO Candice and clinical advisor Melissa explored caregivers’ mental health challenges and the importance of self-care. 

“More Than a Label”* Mental Health Storytelling Event – “Personalising the Percentage” (Mar 2025)

We invited individuals who have experienced mental health problems to share their mental health journeys to inspire and bring positive energy to the public!

The event also discussed various mental health topics closely related to our daily lives, as well as trends in mental health and research on anti-stigma.

iACT Wellbeing Practitioner Network – Wellbeing Check-in Days

Organised regular Wellbeing Check-in Days in Manulife Hong Kong’s office, offering 45-minute one-on-one sessions led by five iACT Alumni Wellbeing Practitioners.

These sessions were available to Manulife staff, their families, and friends, supporting participants in navigating emotional challenges and equipping practical self-care strategies.

An event series focused on destigmatising mental health and promoting open dialogue within the community, topics include The Connection Between Sports and Mental Health and Face up to Men’s Mental Health.

“More Than a Label”* Mind HK Ambassador Training (Nov 2024)

We provided ambassador training for individuals who have experienced mental health problems to become Mind HK Ambassadors and share their lived experiences.

iACT Wellbeing Practitioner Network – 8-week Mindfulness for Life Course (MBCT-L) (Nov & Oct 2024)

A series of training programmes were organised to strengthen the iACT network for alumni, enhance the skillsets of the Wellbeing Practitioners and enable them to serve people in need more effectively.

Your Mental Health Matters Event #2 – How family of origin affects you today (Oct 2024)

The second “Your Mental Health Matters” event held in October 2024. Cross media content creator Hui Yin and Mind HK counselling psychologist, Opal, explored how families of origin impact personality, personal growth, and emotional systems. 

Your Mental Health Matters Event #1 – Managing ours and others’ emotions (June 2024)

An insightful session was held in June 2024, featuring linguistics expert and former senior lecturer Ben Sir, Mind HK CEO Candice, Mind HK clinical advisor Opal and Mental Health Ambassador Phoebe, sharing both professional insights and personal experiences on emotional management.

 

The session offered invaluable tools for navigating emotions effectively, including the innovative concept of the “Mental Fridge.”

The two-year Strategic Charity Partnership – Manulife x Mind HK was officially launched.

The key initiatives aim to address misconceptions towards mental health and empower sustained health and wellbeing.

What is iACT Service?

Improving Access to Community Therapies (iACT®) is one of the services from Mind HK. Trained Wellbeing Practitioners will offer initial assessment and early intervention for people dealing with mild to moderate symptoms of depression, anxiety, or other emotional difficulties.

The service includes 6-8 sessions of low-intensity psychological support, the flexibility of the service allows individuals to receive free and timely support when needed.

If you’re aged between 18 – 65 and are facing some emotional challenges, we would like to invite you to take an online assessment for us to gain a better understanding of your current emotional struggles.

If you’re eligible, we’ll get you connected with a Wellbeing Practitioner within two weeks to sort out the next steps.

The service runs for about 3 months and includes 6-8 support sessions, tailored to your needs.

 

We encourage you to attend all sessions and actively practice the tips and exercises provided by your Wellbeing Practitioner.

We take your privacy seriously. Your chats with the Wellbeing Practitioner are confidential.

 

We won’t share any of your info unless you’ve provided consent or if there are risks detected.

This programme isn’t suitable for people facing emergencies, major setbacks, or those diagnosed with serious or complex mental health conditions.

 

If you’re having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, this programme might not meet your needs, so please seek help right away. You can check out Mind HK’s “Find Help Now” page for immediate information and services.

Most of our Wellbeing Practitioners have backgrounds in psychology or counselling and are passionate about mental health. They’ve gone through about 140 hours of intensive training and completed at least 120 hours of supervised clinical practice over 9 months to ensure the quality of service.

 

They’re trained by accredited local experts in the mental health field, including clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists, counsellors, and psychiatrists. Plus, we regularly check how effective our services are. All service outputs and performances are subject to consistent monitoring.

Who is suitable for participating in this programme?

This programme welcomes anyone between the ages of 18 and 65 who may be feeling lost or facing emotional difficulties. Please note that this programme is not suitable for individuals diagnosed with severe or complex mental health conditions.

This programme is not suitable for individuals diagnosed with severe or complex mental health conditions, but suitable for those who experience mild to severe moderate anxiety, mild to moderate depression, or other emotional challenges. If you are currently experiencing a major setback or even having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, please visit the “Find Help Now” page on our Mind HK’s website for immediate information and services.

After signing up, our Wellbeing Practitioner will contact you within two weeks to schedule a convenient time for a 45-minute conversation, either via video or phone call, according to your preference. During the conversation, the Wellbeing Practitioner will understand your current situation and help you gain a better understanding of your emotional state based on the questionnaire you filled out during application. Additionally, they will provide recommendations for appropriate community resources based on your needs, helping you take an important first step in taking care of your mental health.

Although the intervention procedure is mostly standardised, Wellbeing Practitioners will work flexibly with clients to address individual presenting problems and unique characteristics.

Our Wellbeing Practitioners are trained to support people who experience mild to moderate mental health difficulties primarily. This programme is not suitable for the situations mentioned above. Your conversations with the Wellbeing Practitioner are absolutely confidential. Any information about you will not be shared with anyone without your consent unless you or others are at immediate risk or the Wellbeing Practitioner has reason to believe that you may be in imminent danger.
Supervisors will monitor trainees’ development throughout the placement to ensure that they are meeting the required level of competency to pass the training course at the end of the placement.

Yes, it is necessary to book an appointment in advance by filling out the form. Additionally, you can select one of the five stores yourself. We will allocate clients to different Wellbeing Practitioners based on their chosen location.

Before having the conversation, we will ask you to fill out a basic questionnaire for preliminary screening assessment. This screening process aims to ensure that the training received by the Wellbeing Practitioners is sufficient to meet the needs of the individuals receiving the service. If it is determined after the screening assessment that the service is not suitable for you, Mind HK will provide alternative recommendations to ensure your safety and support.

For adults who are suitable for this service, all Wellbeing Practitioners have received training on how to identify and respond to safety and risk issues. If you have any concerns about the support process, the Wellbeing Practitioners have appropriate measures in place and will develop response plans based on the urgency of the situation. They can also access support from clinical practitioners from Mind HK or participating organisations.
