Celebrating good portrayals of mental health in the media at the Verandah, the Repulse Bay. On November 15th, 2018, Mind HK will be hosting the Mind Media Awards in Hong Kong – the first time this will be done outside of the UK.

The Mind Media Awards is an annual event in the UK designed to encourage better coverage of mental health issues in the British media. The awards ceremony celebrates the best portrayals and reporting of mental health problems across broadcast, print and digital media and film. In 2017, around 1000 people attended the event in the UK – it was attended by Prince Harry, Fearne Cotton, Stephen Fry and more. Past highlights can be found here.

The Mind HK Media Awards 2018 will celebrate journalists in Hong Kong who are challenging perceptions of mental health and will showcase their work. This event will work to encourage a positive, ethical and balanced portrayal of mental health in the local media. It will be hosted by E! News Asia’s TV presenter, Dominic Lau.
