Tammy’s story: Tammy has grown up in Hong Kong and is a relatively new member to the workforce. She was formerly been diagnosed with Depression and Bulimia Nervosa and has been in recovery since. Lifting weights, running on trails and practising meditation are some of the ways she keeping her mental health in check. Tammy hopes her story can show people who are struggling with their mental health that this does not define who they are.

Tammy has contributed towards Mind HK’s More Than A Label Anti-stigma campaign. She has shared her story and recover journey with us in our “More Than a Label: This is our story” book. Our book, which features a collection of mental health stories from diverse members of the Hong Kong community, is now on sale at Bookazine for $120 HKD, with all proceeds going back to supporting our campaign.

Join in and learn more about mental health conditions through a lived experience discussion based panel!

「More Than a Label

“More than a Label 我就是我” is Mind HK new campaign in partnership with MINDSET, which stems from its goal of changing and influencing the public’s perception towards persons with diagnosable mental health conditions. Funded by Jardines Matheson, this campaign encourages the public to look beyond the typical, stigmatising, labels associated with mental health diagnoses. Through personal stories of mental health journeys, we want to showcase realistic portrayals of people who have faced mental health problems and recovered and depict their holistic identity.

With this campaign, we hope to raise awareness of the stigma towards persons with mental health conditions, celebrate the resilience and strength of people in recovery, and educate and equip the public with mental health knowledge. We believe this will facilitate more conversation in mental health, which will in turn help destigmatise mental health in Hong Kong.
