“Inner Child“ is a concept commonly used in popular psychology, which originated from the book “The Psychology of the Child Archetype” by Carl Jung in the 1940s. Inner Child that represents the part of us holding memories and feelings from childhood. It can be playful and curious, but may also carry emotional pain or unresolved trauma.

 

Everyone’s upbringing is different and can profoundly affect the psychological well-being and character formation of both the Inner Child and the individual. By healing the Inner Child through parenting, we can change behavioural patterns dealing with emotions, trauma and relationships. Engaging a dialogue with the Inner Child helps us to understand our emotional needs, facilitate personal growth and improve mental health.
