#HereAndNow: Tai Po Lake House

The Lake House in Tai Po holds a special place in my heart. Nestled amidst nature’s serenity, it is a haven where I find solace, comfort, and a sense of belonging, especially as someone who grapples with anxiety and neurodivergent conditions. Surrounded by lush greenery and embraced by the soothing presence of the lake, this sanctuary has become a symbol of tranquility and personal growth for me.

From the moment I first set foot in the Lake House, I could sense its transformative power. Its idyllic setting provided the perfect backdrop for introspection and self-discovery. The stillness of the water mirrored my desire for inner peace, while the gentle rustling of leaves whispered encouragement, urging me to embark on a journey of healing. The water park, with its serene atmosphere, offered respite from the overwhelming sensory inputs of everyday life, allowing me to reconnect with myself on a deeper level.

As I wandered through the grounds of the Lake House, I felt a sense of acceptance and understanding that I hadn’t experienced elsewhere. The tranquil surroundings provided a safe space for me to be myself, free from judgment or the pressure to conform. It was here that I could fully embrace my neurodivergent traits, finding solace in the knowledge that I was not alone in my struggles.

Looking at the water park is already a therapeutic experience. The peacefulness of the surroundings allowed me to engage in mindfulness practices, grounding myself in the present moment and quieting the racing thoughts that often accompany anxiety. I would often take long walks along the scenic trails, guided by the calming rhythm of my breath and the sights and sounds of nature. These moments of connection with the natural world provided a sense of grounding and helped alleviate the symptoms of anxiety.

Nature allows people to become themselves. As a neurodivergent person, I find it important to be myself. The chance to be able to spend time with nature helps me to fill my heart with gratitude and a profound sense of peace, free from judgment to be oneself.
